There is a community campus affiliated with Tribhuvan University located in Melamchi, Ward No. 11, Melamchi Municipality, Sindhupalchok District.
Situated in the central part of the western region of Sindhupalchok district, Melamchi holds geographical, economic, and social significance. Recognizing the need to establish a campus to provide higher education in this area, a gathering of local intellectuals, social workers, and representatives of political parties formed a 35-member infrastructure preparation committee in Bhadra 2063 (August–September 2006). Subsequently, in Kartik 2063 (October–November 2006), a draft of the statute was prepared, and a 15-member ad hoc committee was formed. The process to obtain affiliation from Tribhuvan University was then initiated.
In accordance with the policies and regulations of Tribhuvan University, the campus formally received affiliation as a community campus. Overcoming various ups and downs along the way, it has continued to offer students from rural areas the opportunity to pursue higher education while staying within their own communities.
